There’s nothing like pumpkin spice to get people in the mood for what seems like everyone’s favorite season – fall! From pumpkin ales to hard apple ciders, many of the breweries on the Bucks County Ale Trail have just the seasonal craft brew to enjoy the cooler temps and enjoy the autumn season on into November

Bucks County Brewery offers three fall beers on tap for the fall! Enjoy authentic sausages and other German-influenced side dishes with Frumpkin’s Pumpkin Ale, Munich Autumn Octoberfest and Berliner Weisse.

What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dessert? Triumph Brewing Company brews a pumpkin ale every fall that tastes like a glassful of pumpkin pie! With loads of pumpkin, along with a special blend of spices, the beer’s orange color will keep you festive for the fall season.

Another pumpkin pie-like beer brewed with a whole bunch of goodies, the Jack's Revenge Ale at McCoole's Red Lion Brewery in Quakertown has pumpkin, brown sugar, molasses, nutmeg, vanilla beans and cinnamon sticks.

Broken Goblet Brewery has two Halloween-themed beers! Their specialty brew, “All Goblets Have Spirits” includes 10% Scotch Ale, maple syrup and Gala apples and is served with a bourbon-soaked apple chunk as a floater. “Cut the Crap-o-Lantern” is a tongue-in-cheek name for their pumpkin porter.

A take on the traditional German Marzen Festival, Proper Brewing Company crafts Prop-Tober Fest that carries on into November using all German malts and hops. Try Gracie Lou’s Witches Brew for a seasonal pumpkin ale made with pumpkin, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spices and cinnamon!

This is an exciting time for Neshaminy Creek Brewing when they release some favorites! The brewer offers several seasonal beers including, a pumpkin beer called Punkless Dunkel, a crafted pumpkin wheat ale that’s a tasty, spicy, pumpkiny treat! Also, sample: the dank, citrusy and hop-heavy A Good Problem to Have Double IPA, the award-winning Bamberg-style smoked lager Croydon is Burning, the Hyper Spaceship Lager that competed in the Great American Beer Festival in Denver and two more that was added at the yearly Oktoberfest Celebration on Sept. 30.

Vault Brewing Company’s Sweet Potato Ale tastes like autumn with sweet potato, nutmeg, cinnamon and molasses for a creamy, rich and smooth blend. The deep, inviting amber color works well with their dishes like Wild Mushroom, Duck & Apple, Kale Salad with Butternut Squash and desserts like bread pudding.

Fall isn’t just for pumpkins! Taste these other autumn brews made with seasonal fruits and other ingredients:

Mad Princes Brewing’s Pale Ale is crafted with wild Pennsylvania paw paw fruit from Hundred Fruit Farm for a crisp and refreshing range of tropical fruit aroma and flavors. Try the sour paw paw ale later this year and sample the Saison with rye. This seasonal farmhouse Ale, called True Grist, is a dry, but refreshing, Belgian-style that plays nice with spicy foods.

Try The Great Barn Brewery’s Raspberry Berliner Weisse! Brewed with local raspberries, the light, crisp and refreshing beer is featured in their New Hope taproom. Sample the Baltic Porter, made with smoked maple syrup and Madagascar vanilla bean for a dark and malty fragrance.
